The Little Guide Book of Cemetery Symbolism
This project came from my fascination of cemeteries and the symbolism one finds on
grave markers and headstones. I hand-painted each symbol in gouache paint, created the cover design
in Adobe Illustrator, and laid everything out in InDesign in a way that it could be printed onto a
double-sided piece of tabloid paper an then folded and cut into a small booklet.
My intention was to make an accessible and friendly looking guide to cemeteries in order to break-down the
common belief that they are dark and creepy places that are to be avoided.
